Brilliant is a Montreal-based commerce studio. We build stores brands are proud of, and customers trust. We say what we think and show our reasoning. Everything we build has to work as hard as it looks. Form + Function.

Common questions

What kind of brands do you work with?

Established DTC brands are the core of what we do, but that's a rough guide, not a cutoff. We've taken on early-stage brands too, when the brand itself is strong and what they need is structural: catalog organization, CMS setup, a site that can actually support where they're headed. What matters more than revenue is whether there's something real worth building on.

Who will I actually be working with?

Alex and Olivier, directly, from kickoff to delivery. No account manager, no hand-off to a junior team once the contract's signed. The people who scope the work are the people doing it.

What's the difference between working with you and a typical agency?

Most Shopify agencies sell hours of implementation. We sell judgment, built from fifteen years inside the ecosystem on both the technical and design side. We use AI to move faster on execution. The thinking stays ours.

Do you only build new sites, or do you help with existing ones?

Both. If your foundation is solid, we build on it. If it's not (legacy theme, a previous agency's decisions, technical debt), that's a starting point, not a dealbreaker.

Do you only handle design and development?

No. A lot of our work happens underneath that: product data structure, metafields architecture, inventory logic, how your data moves between platforms. The site is what people see. What holds it up is underneath.

How does pricing work?

Fixed-fee, scoped in advance. You're buying a defined outcome, not renting hours. Every engagement starts with a clear scope and explicit exclusions, so there's no ambiguity about what's included.

What does a typical engagement look like?

Depends on where you're starting. Some brands need a diagnostic audit before committing to anything bigger. Others come to us mid-build, or with something actively broken that needs fixing first.

Do you offer ongoing support after launch?

Yes. Our retainer model treats the site as something that keeps improving after launch, not something that's finished the day it ships. Monthly sprints, performance monitoring, and priority access when something breaks.

Do you use AI in your process?

Where it removes grunt work, yes. Where it requires judgment, like brand decisions, UX architecture, what a merchant actually needs, no. AI hasn't changed what makes a site work. It's changed how fast we can execute once we know what to build.

Will working with you help conversion?

We won't promise a number before we've seen your site. What we will rule out: dark patterns, fake urgency, discount dependency. Those tactics cost you brand equity we're not willing to spend on your behalf.
